Pruning: a balance learned over years

11 February 2026

Prune too lightly and the vine overcrops. Too hard and it grows instead of ripening.

Pruning decides both the quality of the crop and the life of the vineyard. Too light, and the vine carries more fruit than it can ripen. Too severe, and it puts its energy into growth instead of grapes.

Every plot and every grape asks for something different, and the right balance only comes with many years of experience.
