2017: a warm year, a small crop

14 September 2026

How we read a dry year in Ceptura, and what it meant for the reds.

Ceptura has a temperate continental climate, with cold winters and warm summers. The sub-Carpathian hills keep cold air out, while warm Mediterranean air flows in from the south and south-west.

In warm years these hills make the difference. The iron-rich clay on the western slopes holds water for the reds. On the eastern slopes, Sarmatian limestone gives the aromatic wines.
